Boat Building Group Workshop with Chris Redmond

DATES

Saturday 5th December 10.30am-12.30pm - Book now here

INFO
Tongue fu have recently release their debut album Boat Building, and Artistic Director Chris Redmond will be running a writing workshop around the themes of the album.

In times of political turmoil, there is a long tradition of poets raising their voice in protest. Writing in direct response to events such as the Black Lives Matter movement, Grenfell Tower, the Refugee Crisis and the Climate Crisis against the backdrop of Brexit and Trump’s America, Boat Building is an attempt to claim back some agency, some hope and solidarity. It is an artistic exercise is collective action, writing as self-care and a celebration of the power of diversity.

In these workshops, led by poet, musician and Tongue Fu founder, Chris Redmond, we will explore these questions, writing in response to the themes of Tongue Fu’s newly released debut album and exploring our own sense of ‘what can I do?’ We will write like our lives depend on it.

Each participant will be invited to film their finished poems and submit to Tongue Fu, who will host the films on their social media and website.

Selected poems from the workshop will be developed as a collaboration with a member of the Tongue Fu band to make new films, promoted through Tongue Fu channels.

The workshop is limited to 12 people.
